Where Rivers and Friends Meet

Geographically, the Town is located at the confluence of the Tulameen and Similkameen Rivers. In the early development of Princeton, this allowed for easy settlement as the confluence provided a generally flat and developable area with easy access to local resources. The downside to the development location is its susceptibility to flooding from both the Tulameen & Similkameen Rivers.

Iconic Brown Bridge

The bridge, which was built nearly a century ago and is one of the few regular-use wooden bridges in the Province, is a historic landmark.

Its' future at risk:

“The bridge was downloaded to the municipality in the 1990s, when the province was divesting itself of some of these infrastructures.  This is a municipal problem and a municipal bridge and it will be our problem going forward.”

“It’s of high importance to our community for sure. Whenever we close the bridge for maintenance it has a major impact, for sure."

He said that “tough decisions will have to be made” in the future.
